Musculoskeletal Assessment
(including Footscan® Dynamic Plate)
Utilising the Footscan® Dynamic Plate an industry-leading technology for orthotics and unmatched results.
Foot, knee, hip, and back pain can often be traced back to poor biomechanics originating from the feet. Left untreated, these issues can lead to further discomfort, injury, and chronic pain.
To address this, we have invested in the latest Footscan technology —a cutting-edge pressure-sensitive Gait and Motion mat trusted by elite sports teams like Team GB and Manchester City FC, as well as state-of-the-art movement labs worldwide.
Common issues we address in the clinic include:
Plantar Fasciitis
Flat Feet
Joint Pain
Sports Injuries
Ankle Instability
Achilles Pain
What to Expect During Your Musculoskeletal Assessment
A musculoskeletal (MSK) assessment involves a detailed examination of the lower limbs, concentrating on their structure, alignment, strengths, and weaknesses. At The Foot Fella Podiatry, we recommend an MSK appointment for a range of issues, including:
Heel Pain
Flat Feet
Joint Pain
Sports Injuries
Ankle Instability
Achilles Pain
The appointment includes a thorough evaluation of your feet and ankles, often utilising gait analysis using The Phits Footscan Technology for enhanced insights. We will also take a comprehensive history of your general health, which is essential for accurate diagnosis. Expect the entire appointment to last about 45 minutes, culminating in a tailored management plan designed to address your specific concerns.
When attending your biomechanical/musculoskeletal assessment, please bring the three pairs of shoes you wear most frequently and a pair of shorts for your examination. This preparation enables our podiatrist to perform a thorough evaluation of your posture, muscular function, and joint alignment.
During the assessment, our podiatrist will begin by taking a detailed medical history. This may involve a visual examination of your current footwear, along with assessments of your posture while sitting, lying down, or standing. We will evaluate your lower limbs, muscle strength, and foot shape. You’ll likely be asked to stand and walk across a dynamic foot scan plate to detect areas of high pressure on your feet and any irregularities in your gait.
